We Warned You

Tommy Davidson on FOX's "The NFL Show".

by B.D. | 2002.12.11

Loosie has again proven to be a prophet of rage – and hilarity! Several months ago, we highlighted an up-and-coming young comedian by the name of Tommy Davidson. There was something about his style -- a certain panache, a particular peacock strut, a definitive glint in his eye, an unambiguous cockstrong attitude -- that shrieked “motherfucking superstar, motherfucking superstar, motherfucking superstar”.

And so it was to be. After our lithe male ingénue shook his money-maker in the pre-op transsexual romp Juwanna Mann, we breathlessly awaited his next move. T.D. surprised all of us. Invading the very core of American spirituality, Tommy is joining FOX’s weekly football program (aptly entitled “The NFL Show”)!

We know what you’re thinking. “With junkie-criminal Black stereotype Michael Irvin and fat-and-named-Tony Italian stereotype Tony Siragusa on board, how can there be room for even more laughs?” We don’t even have an answer, you worthless motherfuckers. All we can bellow is this: “we said the same thing about the Magic Johnson show.”

Taking on a similar role to that of Jimmy Kimmel on FOX’s other weekly NFL Show, Davidson will spice up all the complex analysis of 2-deep zones and spinal injuries with his urban-and-in-your-face comedic banter. It’s an entertainment one-stop – besides sports and humor, FOX always has a couple busty bitches hanging around the studio.

We don’t want to take credit for alerting the universe to Davidson’s greatness. He’s done it with his rare recipe of risqué, ribald and uproarious riffing. It’s truly a testament to the FOX family that they took a chance on such a young upstart. Rupert ‘n’ dem could have easily chosen a b-movie reject/lame retread and plopped him down in the studio to fart around a gag or two. But they went with our little homie Tommy instead. And they’re letting him keep the cornrows, earrings and leather jacket that have become his badge of youthful thugged-outtery.
