Ruination India Pale Ale United States
If a station wagon of beer snobs collided with a dump truck packed to the gills with drunkards, the resultant fluid found seeping around the limb-strewn intersection might be Ruination India Pale Ale. A marriage of sharply bitter flavors and 7.7% alcohol content, Ruination humbly describes itself as “A liquid poem to the glory of hops” (which is infinitely more enticing than Coors’ “Gaseous paean to over-carbonated dogshit”). Taking a page from the horror-core imagery of Maudite, the potent IPA arrives in 22 oz. bottles bearing a crouching gargoyle with curled wings and malicious horns. A lengthy screed on the back of the container claims “ruination” refers to the deflowering of the palate that occurs after their powerful beer renders all other foods and beverages the rough equivalent of Olive Garden cuisine, but with that leering devil, we suspect the brewmasters from San Diego’s Stone Brewery are hopeful of conjuring up memories of hurling up a bellyful of fish tacos into a passed-out surfer chick’s purse and then making out with her cousin from Humboldt County. If a potent and flavorful IPA isn’t up your alley, try Stone Brewery’s Arrogant Bastard Ale, if only because of the gully-ass name. Read more articles in Beer Garden » |
